A Wagon Wheel

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

As Christians, we all have a tendency to let our mind, will, emotions, our desires and ambitions get in the way when it comes down to truly trusting God with every part of our lives.

I loved God, but it was hard for me to trust and acknowledge Him with every part of my life. To completely submit my own will and my desires in life, and place them into His hands was hard for me. After all, I had a reputation I was trying to keep intact! After I had exhausted myself physically, mentally, emotionally and financially, I came to the end of myself and said, “yes Lord, here I am.” I found out that God wasn’t trying to take everything away from me, He wanted to be a part of everything in my life!

Imagine a wagon wheel: it consists of a hub, spokes, and a rim, all connected together and balanced. Each spoke represents a part of your life: relationships, family, friends, your job, finances and hobbies. I found I had made God a spoke, when what He desired to be in my life was the hub. When God is at the “center” of your life, every spoke flourishes, but when we try to fit Him in where it’s convenient, everything and everyone in our life suffers and eventually the joy for life is gone.

Let God be the hub, the center, Lord of your life. Let Him sit on the throne of your heart. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He shall direct your paths.

You will find true peace and joy, and meaning for life.

God Bless,

Jack Smith
